I’ll say it again sliders are gamechangers.

Pass defense like the photos posted are annoying. Adjusting sliders and improving coverage/reacting time not only seem to open up a lot more swatted ball animations, but it solves the “lost in coverage” AI it would seem.

This is definitely nothing new in EA games, sliders are so major when it comes to tuning for your liking and version of “realism.”

Oddly contrary to most, defense has been where I’ve thrived for the most part. It’s especially odd to me because I’m usually an offense guy.

I rolled App State 35-17 on the heels of THREE defensive touchdowns. A strip sack in the end zone and user pick were key. I quickly figured out they were a run first team. I started running a 4-4 and just went to zone if they ever had more than two receivers. Blitzed a lot of first downs. It worked like a charm. I switched to a dime cover 1 late because “they’re definitely gonna pass now they’re down 35-10” and got torched for changing up my gameplan lol

I just don't see how that can be labeled cheating when it's something that's just buggy with coverage in general and impacts both the user and CPU equally. Do you understand that? Like literally, can you see where I am coming from there? I am not asking it rhetorically or facetiously. If this were something I only ever saw happening to my team and never the CPU, I'd be right there with you saying the game is cheating the user, but that's not the case. I can't call it cheating when it literally hurts the CPU as often as it hurts me. At that point it's just a poorly designed mechanic in the game that needs to be fixed.

It’s cheating because I constantly see my players able to cover somewhat normally on plays that aren’t high leverage. But big moments, 3rd downs, this stuff happens a lot. And the CPU defenders are able to cover normally. I have reaction and pass coverage sliders at 88 for both sides. Why do my defenders act illogically? That’s a slot cornerback btw, not a linebacker. In zone. He had an 81 zone coverage rating. Why is he covering like an idiot? This stuff is inexcusable and ruins the game.

There doesn’t seem to be any way to just play consistently good defense in this game unless you’re using the best of the best. You won’t see your defense just limit yardage, grind out stops.

Good defense in EA football games = forcing an ungodly amount of turnovers. It’s like the entire game is geared towards streamers.

Guess I cheated I adapted to what the CPU was doing against me, changed it up on both sides of the ball, and roared back. THIS is what the cpu is essentially doing to you, and you just don't like it. Yes, it fights back… by cheating. By warping your players out of position, by their QB suddenly turning into Brady. Their receivers suddenly going god mode. Your linemen suddenly being incapable of blocking or recognizing defenders who should be in their field of view.

And this is where we are going to disagree on the whole subject. Issues like what your pictures showed are definitely irritating and I have been bitten by them in both high pressure and low pressure moments. I've also seen the CPU get bitten by the same issues just as frequently in both high and lower pressure moments, so that's why I can't agree with you that it is cheating.

I don't remember if it were this thread or another, but I literally quit a game the other night after I scored to take the lead in the final minute because I went into the replay to see why my guy was wide open and I saw the CPU safety covering the post perfectly fine before randomly stopping, doing 2-3 circles in place, and then they stood there and watched the rest of the play unfold, which was me seeing a guy wide open deep late and hitting him for an easy score.

If they had ran a cover 4 and the safety jumped the dig and that freed up my post, I'd be fine with it. That's football. Instead, the safety literally just stopped covering him and did multiple circles in place away from everyone else allowing the TD to happen.

It's not cheating, it's just the game bugging out and it can really hurt you in some key situations. That's how I see it at least. I'd agree it was cheating if I didn't see the same issues bite the CPU, but I do, often.

Finally got to play a game on AA, with 15 min quarters, man too much scoring, is there a good set of sliders, I’m on PS5, idk if the share system is cross-platform or not, so anything that would help make the games more realistic, I’m throwing way too many INTs too, but that just might be my fault lol.

Overall I love the game, can’t wait for a proper week 1 roster update with my Irish having 85 real players, 75 of the 85 in the game are NIL, but 10 are either retired or fake.

That's pretty much how I see it. It's easy to have a level of confirmation bias and ignore/minimize the times when you benefit from it. I do think that playing on AA/Heisman without sliders and expecting a satisfying and realistic experience is just asking for frustration. On that level you pretty much have to learn what works best in the game to win, as opposed to playing in a way that matches what might happen IRL.

Especially on Heisman, it's going to be tense and annoying, with little margin for error, and those big moments that go against you (that feel like CPU "cheats") are going stick in your mind and put you in a negative mood. But then again some people want that kind of online comp vibe, with a side order of rage (I guess) lol.

It’s not that I want the online comp vibe. I would love simulation football. Unfortunately, ratings barely seem to matter in this game and players don’t have a baseline level of intelligence. The only time I can get players to actually play in a competent manner and not do stuff like what I’ve been describing in this thread is when I play with Ohio State, Georgia, or Bama. Aka the best of the best where their guys are loaded with badges. You play with a regular team around 80-82 (like 75% of teams in this game are, because for some reason they think CFB is the NFL and it’s coaching that makes the difference, not talent) and your players make middle school level errors multiple times a game.

The sliders we have also barely work. If I put pass coverage at 90, it should be blanket coverage every single play. But at 90, CPU coverage is good and user coverage is still very inconsistent. QBA at 10 should make it nearly impossible to complete a pass, instead you almost have to go that low to see misfires. Run and pass blocking sliders, same deal. I have CPU run block at 100 and I still see their blockers doing stupid crap every game.

The game is busted, the AI isn’t smart and so they compensate by making your players idiots.

I'd direct you to Armor & Swords. He has an AA & varsity set & his sliders get good game play. I think he's on ps5 as well. If not he has a page in the sliders thread. It lists the whole set up.
