Supported Ministries, Charities and Organisations


AGRI – Operation Agri is a charity supporting Christian-led  development projects, showing the love of Jesus in action by attacking the basic causes of poverty amongst some of the least fortunate people in the world, regardless of their religious, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Supporting projects such as agricultural centres to assist farmers, irrigation schemes, basic health clinics, and women’s empowerment groups in urban slums.

CHRISTIAN AID – Christian Aid has a vision to end poverty and a belief that this vision can become reality.

COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL – Compassion International exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults. Coleford Baptist Church sponsors a young boy called Lewis, living in Murigi, Kenya, through Compassion.

FAIR TRADE FOUNDATION – Has a vision of a world in which justice and sustainable development are at the heart of trade structures and practices so that everyone, through their work, can maintain a decent and dignified livelihood and develop their full potential.

AN OPEN DOOR INTO YOUR HEART – Open Door aims to be a lifeline for some of the world’s poorest children in Uganda and India. They rescue abandoned babies and street children, shelter, feed and care for them, proide education, and try to find existing family members, so they can be resettled.

SAMARITAN’S PURSE – Samaritan’s Purse works across the world to meet the critical needs of the victims or war, poverty, famine, disease and natural disasters. They offer both emergency relief providing food, water and temporary shelter, and long term development programmes that aim to break the cycle of poverty. Every year Coleford Baptist Church supports Operation Christmas Child, sending many wrapped shoeboxes filled with gifts to some of the world’s most disadvantaged children, to show them love and let them know they have not been forgotten.

TEAR FUND – Believes that local churches are the answer to poverty. Inspired by the teaching of Jesus, Tear Fund reognises that people have deeply interconnected material and spiritual needs, and seeks to meet those needs by working through loca churches.

THROUGH THE ROOF – A Christian charity working with disabled people in the UK and overseas

TRAIDCRAFT – Traidcraft fights poverty through trade, helping people in developing countries transform their lives. Established in 1979 as a Christian response to poverty, Traidcraft is the UK’s leading Fair Trade organisation, running development programmes in some of the poorest parts of the world and campaigning to bring about trade justice. Fairtrade tea, coffee, chocolate and other products are available from Dorothy’s Traidcraft stall throughout the year.

VINTAGENXT CHURCH – Jeff Kinsley’s church in the Hillcrest area of Little Rock, Arkansas. Jeff has supported Coleford Baptists for many years, most recently visiting with us in June 2010. The church has a youth focus, and strives to be an organic faith community. Jeff has also written a number of books, including his latest A Dad Sized Challenge, published through Main Thing Ministries.
